This past Thursday I took Addison, Uncle Joe and his friend Zander to the Zoo! (They were more thrilled about it than they look in the above photo). It was Addison's second time to the Zoo, first time this summer and first time to the Indianapolis Zoo. Not sure Addison really understood what was happening, she enjoyed looking at all the people as much as the animals I think. It was a rather gloomy day and kept raining off and on, but the sun came out here and there. I much prefer rain to crazy humidity anyways :) We started with petting the baby sharks because I believe it is an unwritten rule that you always start with the sharks there.
Then we moved on to all the other critters both large and small.
My favorite part of the Zoo may sound silly, but it was their mother's room. There were lots of private spaces with rockers for nursing moms and rockers out in the main part. There was a whole row of diaper changing stations. There was even a play area with lots of zoo books and a huge chalk board for toddlers. The art work was all mommy animals with their babies. It was by far the nicest one I've been in and I was grateful for it. When out in a very busy place with a lot of people having a quite space to take a little one to regroup for a few minutes is really important!
Joe and Zander's favorite part I believe were the Dolphins. We followed them into the underwater part and they were laying down watching the dolphins swim above them :) Naturally, Addison joined them.
Then we went above to watch the dolphin show and they sat in the "splash zone" and got soaked.
They also enjoyed their rock candy, because they are teen boys after all.
Addison's favorite part were the Tortoise. She stood there and talked to them for a solid ten minutes, it was hilarious!
It was a fun day and I wore all three kids and myself out!
