I've been contemplating changing majors. Right now my major is Elementary Education and Mild Intervention. I love my teaching classes and love working with the students. I am thinking of changing to a Social Work major to become a childrens' advocate, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I want to work with children and I prefer to work one-on-one or with small groups of children. I'd like to work with Autistic, Gifted, ED, Physically-handicapped or Mentally-handicapped children. That's about all I know :/ So what do you think my options are?
I don't know anything about the requirements. However, I know from my sister's experience, that there is a great demand for Social Work majors. I can't advise which you should choose, but I highly recommend you talk to the advisers here about your desires so they can help you with the recommended classes.
ReplyDeleteI've talked to just about every professor at this point in that hall ;) With a Social Work major I know I would get a job and I would graduate the same time as I would now. I'm mainly trying to find any ideas others have for other opportunities in the field of working with special needs children and the very young. I've been researching it for a couple weeks now so just making sure I'm not missing any ideas!
