CHALK WALK!

So the Chalk Walk was this past weekend :) Ron and I did an 8ft by 8ft square again. We decided the original plan with the four Winnie the Pooh characters was too complicated and decided to simplify it. Therefor it ended up just Eeyore! We started Friday night as soon as they had the road closed off and the squares mapped out.

First we used white tempera paint to paint a base coat for the square. Using painters tape to outline it.

Then we gridded it with string and a chalk line so that it become a bunch of 6in by 6in squares that we could use to draw the image. Ron penciled it in.

Then I used black tempera to smooth the lines out and get our final image.

At the end of Friday we were working by street lamps and we were ready to start coloring the next day. This is after 6 hours of work at the end of Friday night.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early after getting in after one and were able to start coloring! We used pastel chalks and sponges to do the color.

We colored...

And shaded...

And colored...

And kept coloring some more...

And more..

Signed our names and after 14 hours total we were done!

It was a fantastic weekend and wonderful to see so many people stop to take photos of our square this year :) This is diffidently an event I could see participating in for years to come! Some don't seem to understand it because it's gone in a couple days, but I love it because there is a whole street full of people working on art for no other reason than that they enjoy it! It is also great to have my friends like Damon and Lindsay stop by and as much family as possible like my Mom, Little Joe and Tony. Not to mention creating the piece with a wonderful friend! In short it was a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for looking at this years masterpiece :)
