My Mom, Addison and I packed up the car and headed up to Fort Wayne on Friday the 13th for the Chalk Walk. As soon as we were checked in at our hotel Ron came to pick me up and the two of us headed to downtown Main Street to start our creation. Here is our canvas which this year consisted of an even bigger crack than last year plus lots of oil stains!
The grid looks pretty much the same as last years, but still fun to show the full process :) Our subject this year was chosen by Ron and it was Sunbeam Bread in Trompe. Therefore, it fit into not one but two categories! (The boy is ambitious). At the end of Friday night we had the tempera paint down for the bread loaf and it was starting to look like cookie dough to me, but maybe I just like chocolate...
Saturday morning we came back bright and early ready to start the chalk!
First we got the basic outline down so that it looked right to both of us.
We then started to really color and shade...
And continued to color and shade...
And continued...
Took a break from the rain and admired how much our work was looking like a piece of blue tarp...
Then we decided to call an end to the night much earlier than we ever have because the weather decided to play tricks on us for a while. This is where we left off on Saturday night :)
After looking at photos the night before and being able to walk away from it for a bit we came back early the next morning knowing exactly what needed to be changed and what we needed to finish.
We could have finished quicker but we are perfectionist :)
Signed our names!
And DONE!!!
We ended up winning the "Iconic Fort Wayne" Category, but didn't find that out till a couple days later. Next year I don't want to go for a category and just do it purely for fun, but we will see if my feelings change between now and then.
It was the longest time I have spent away from Addison so far and it was very difficult for me, but so worth it! I love the Chalk Walk and I am so happy my family supported me doing it this year. Thank you again Mom for looking after Addison so I could participate and the rest of the family for doing without her for the weekend :)

Congratulations on a wonderful project.
